The Mountain

2000's

Love games...
The games we played when we were young...
Like a broken dam of mankind
Flooding through our lives
Overwhelming us...
Taking us away... away... far, far away.

Love games...
The games we played as we grew up.
Like a great inebriator
Filling us with dizziness and dreams
Pressing on us... pressing... pressing...
Til we gave in
And played the horrible game, too.

Love games...
The games we played in our courtyard...
The choices we made
Burdened by our dreams
Tripped our desires
Taunted by the crowd...
Til we succumbed onto our safe plateaus...
Never to climb the mountain.

Love games...
The games we play as we look back
As if tempered by time and space
Still dreaming... dreaming...
Of that something... that someone...
That somehow...
Somewhere up on that mountain...
That mountain we never climbed.

Plateaus... plateaus...
Plateaus sometimes look like mountains
Unless... unless...
Unless you know the mountains.

But... as I look back... I see...
I've always lived on that mountain.
My mountain... is... all...
Is everything... and everyone...
It is every moment and every step...
Every truth... every lesson.
It is every dream... and every kiss.
My mountain... is everything.
It is the only truth.
But...
It is hidden in a foggy, foggy world of games.
