Raggedier

August 13, 2015

Things need care.

Maybe we're used to the cheap...
The things that cost little...
And when they break... we feel little loss...
We'll just buy another... on the cheap...
And feel no remorse...
Maybe even laugh.

But... maybe the cheap
Actually needs more care
Than something more strong
That can withstand the abuse of daily use...
And... the procrastinating maintenance...
And... the disregard and negligence.

Seems that... cheap... or otherwise...
Taking care is a rule
For... otherwise...
Cheap... or quality made...
Things just get raggedier... and raggedier...
Some... quicker than others...
But... raggedier, nonetheless.

And... so, too, with people.

People need a safe place...
A place to call home...
A place where there is comfort and peace...
A place where they are understood...
A place where they are trusted...
And where exists... no betrayals...
And... no fear.

People need warmth... and joy...
For... without those...
They, too, become raggedier and raggedier...
But... much harder to fix...
And much harder to replace.
