Mine

October 18, 2021

I've been putting it all together...
You know...
My belongings...
Accumulated boxes...
Not so many really...
When you think that...
It represents my whole life.
But I've lost whole house-fuls of them...

You know...
Collected treasures...
From thrift stores and flea markets...
Things you can't find anywhere else...
That may mean something
Only to you...
That got lost in the moves.

What is mine now
Is just small pieces, really,
Of once large book collections...
Having had lost many choice pieces
To only... what I can carry.

There are boxes of notebooks
Full of my notes...
Research... musings... theories...
To whittle down
Til nothing remains...
To be lost in the netherworld of the internet...
For someone to happen upon
In their wanderings...
Perhaps to make sense of.

Maybe I'll even put it together...
You know...
Make sense of all the time I've spent
Trying to figure out this world...
From the words of masters...
From the works of artists...
From the theories of dreamers...

You know...
Make some sense of my life...
Of everyone's life...
And our journey together...
As we witness the past...
And watch the future unfold...
Together.
It isn't such an easy feat as you'd think.

Make sense...
Of our little piece in the universe...
Where we all come together
To share our living moments...
With each other...

Make sense...
Of all our hurtings and our joys...
Make sense...
Of our own hearts...
The sweet lambs of our human souls...
As we felt our way along...
By love... and by... the light...
To connect our future to our past...
And wonder...
About our travels...
And embrace...
What is ours.
