Words are gone
Drained from me
Where once the light would shine
The clouds have all encompassed me.
I stare in surprise
At my new world, so bare,
And only see a blackness
In the mockery that seeks me there.
The dreams, the visions, the wonder,
That flowered on this virgin ground
Fall to shame in a weakened life
Closing their sight at the cold around.
The flower of springtime
Greeting card to the earth
Could not charm its lover
To capture its worth.
