1864 Ashley was born October 20, 1864 in Alden, Iowa
1869 At age five, his father died.
1887 He farmed with his brother, Alfred.
1888 He went on his own.
1894 He married Minnie Steber
1904 They moved to Oregon where he obtained work in a saw mill, but had a serious accident which left him paralyzed. They also had a son who was killed in a logging accident and another whose hand was seriously injured at a saw mill. A daughter's husband also was killed in this same industry.

        Children (4) and their children

Carl, in Navy WWI, killed working as truck driver for saw mill
Ted, lost a thumb and finger at a saw mill
Bertha; m. Ray Brown who was killed in Harlans sawmill. 2 children
        Murrell, served in WWII; Postmaster in Oregon
        Glen, lived with his mother

Golda, m. Bullis
