A Moon Beam

June 8, 2011

I wasn't alone.
Life was going on all around me.
I was sitting in a chair
In the corner of the front room
In that old house...
Until I slowly stood up
And took a few slow steps
And stood in the middle of the round rug.

As if in deep thought
Or wonder...
I could only stand there
As if...
As if... I had caught a thought
And was lost in it.

And then...
It seemed like...
Like a light...
Even a spotlight...
Straight down from... overhead...
Not so bright...
Perhaps like frosted glass...
Shone on... me.

And I heard...
"You are loved."
Or...
"Someone loves you."
But... it gave no name.

I wondered...
Who would love me?
Was it Bob or Jim or...
WHO??

Where was he?
I needed him...
Him...
Like it was life itself.

The light...
Became a part of...
A very heavy pack...
That I would carry for a long time.
