What We Denied Our Love

1966

The time of our mourning has passed.

Yesterday
With all its relics
And all its pain
Slid past, striking cruel blows.
Its arrows were hard,
Its aim was merciless.
What could we do
But bend under them,
Til our hearts could find their strength.

Clinging to our fragile prize
We watched the drama
That was being staged in our lives...
The finale
Announcing
The prelude...
A prelude
Unstained by sorrow
Unblemished by defeat.

Yesterday is conquered.

Let there be only gladness, now
Because of our love...
Because of our love.
