The Fire

1960's

The fire can only sometimes burn
And only sometimes warm
As if the light by which we learn
Can sometimes do us harm

And all our needless worries
Just change the way we learn to love
They'll push us through our hurries
Until we fail to move

Across the waving ocean lies
Another lonely sea
But from the clouded, staring skies
The fire came to free.
