The Deadly Deceptions

1960's

I sighed today with broken heart
For love had lost its smile
The world had always torn apart
The things I'd made worthwhile

I cried today, impassioned grief
And turned my mind to see
The life I've lived, that seems so brief
And yet, the future cannot be

I died today, for hope was gone
The hope that gave me breath
The good seemed never to have won
And died a lonely death.
