The Brass Ring

December 9, 2016

We arrive at the fair...
Our eyes openly amazed...
And walk in wonder
Around the booths... and the games...
Barkers call to us, "Over here! Over here!"
"Knock 'em down and you can win!"
A teddy bear...
Maybe a goldfish.

Then there are animals...
And cakes, and cookies, and quilts...
And ribbons of blue or gold...
For the Best of the Show.

For the brave... are the rides...
Strap you in... and off you go...
Round and round...
And upside down!
And you always survive!

And maybe... there is a carousel...
With pipe organ music
Gayly playing as you go...
Round and round... on a horse...
That goes up... and goes down...
Going round... and around...
And... if your heart is good...
You can rise up on that horse...
And you can grab that brass ring...
And fly... fly... fly...
