Pass It On To You

1988

My days will pass
My days go and come
And memories of me will fade
The sorrow will last
Like snow in autumn
Then, I shall rest in the shade.

Forget sweet moments
Forget sad songs
Forget any tears that life bears
My single lifetime
Passed in a twinkling
Humanity needs you now.

Humanity?
Humanity?
The fortress of the humane
The island in a misty sea
The arc of history
The time capsule of God
The humane...
The Christ in our soul
The Messiah in our midst
The true joy of the soul
The harmony of the universe
The hope of all the world.

Be there with it
Guide it gently
Hear its bleatings
Calm its heartstrings
Love its surrenderings
To the wisdom
Of the God force
Of the heavens.
