Mr. Right

August 23, 2011

A man can be right... in many ways...
He can be correct...
He can be righteous...
He can know where he's going...
He can have answers...
He can believe in God...
He can understand women...
He can be street-wise...
He can talk many languages
To many people...
He can communicate well...

A man can be right...
When all around him are lost
And looking for answers...
He can be right
When the world presses on him
To change... to give in... to break...
He can be right
When burdens fall on him
Heavier than most can realize...
In a world of genuine danger...
And genuine... war.

A man can be so very right
Every time he speaks...
Without exception
His words speak deep truths
And comfort... and hope...
Whatever they might appear
To everyone else... to be.

So... when you believed in me
It meant the world...
Whether I heard it or not...
It stayed where I could find it
When I needed it the most...
When there was nothing left to trust.

A man can be so very right.

And so... in the divinity of the day
I look for explanations elsewhere...
Not in mistakes... or faults...
But... somewhere in the light...
The light I struggled to see
But couldn't...
Because of the deep, deep darkness
That had fallen... all around me.

I... look... to the light...
To ask my questions... "why?"
To seek my comfort... "why?"
To get my answers... "why?"
Because... in every way...
A man has been so right...
So very, very right...

There is no fault in him...
Only... in the deep, deep darkness
That fell over us all.
