Chains Of The Truth

1960's

I hear you say, "Now, watch your words,
For what the people hear might hurt."
If insults break a smile in two
Just how, so much better are you?

But, listen!
See! I tend to scream!
The lies I see are fallen dreams!
The insults might just break their pride
And leave nothing left for them inside.

So teach me only to respect
Their hearts I always will suspect
I've got a shield
That will not yield
When hatred comes back to inspect.
